"My power output had shot up by 40 watts throughout the Winter. I now feel stronger and better on a bike than I've ever done before in my life!"

MS Preston

"I'd never considered gym work and on the bike strength work before but this Winter I gave it a try and thoroughly enjoyed it. In my first race of the season I beat riders who I have never been close to before and I put it down to my new found strength. On every hill end drag I just felt so strong, I couldn't believe the gear I was able to turn with such ease."

"When I approached John and explained where I thought I had difficulties he decided to accept me as a challenge. He put me through a test and identified where and why my riding had suffered.

I have been given challenging training to perform back at home on the Wirral which appeared to be easy on paper - or so I thought! However I found them all hard. Don't get me wrong, John was not trying to catch me out but had simply identified where I was wasting my energy and efficiency. It was so simple!

Later after other tests, my riding skills have improved, to my amazement. I have noticed that I am putting far less effort in to get my power output and my speed is a lot faster.

Locally I have a Time Trial circuit where I would usually notice a headwind mid way round that would slow me right down. I went on this circuit on a windy day recently and yep you guessed it I went faster, the wind had only a very limiting effect on my ride and I could not believe it. Even at an early stage of training I was about 5mph faster than normal!

John has been instrumental in offering lots of support and guidance. He is a dedicated coach and ensures you understand your targets and can complete them in manageable chunks. I have achieved every one of the challenges John has set. He stresses how hard they will be and what he expects of you and you are never alone.

In the matter of weeks since I started being coached by John my HR has dropped, my power output is far greater and I feel GOOD!"

I was previously with another well respected coach who did wonders for me in the first 2 years of my cycling `career`. I went from nothing to doing decent rides.

The last few years I became static and didn't improve, in fact since 2003 I have been going backwards a little and have lost some speed. I lost motivation to train and race and I did not finish in a number of races that I had entered. I had become totally drained and didn't enjoy it. I was more focussed on what other people were doing in training and races than myself and had lost the plot to put it bluntly.

I decided in September last year that I was going to either pack in or have a change of direction/training. I then saw an advert for John in Cycling weekly and approached him. After an initial meeting I was sold on what he could offer and started with him in October.

I get a weekly call, training plan and access by e mail for queries. John always answers the phone to me if I need to speak for any reason and he does it with fantastic enthusiasm. His training is interesting and fits around my lifestyle (I work long hours and have 2 very young kids) Fir the first time in my life I am not going into weekend races feeling tired and jaded as I previously did which has equalled improved performance.

My power (I ride on srms) has gone up by some margin this season and I expect it to do so again as I'm not going to peaking till June/July time.

The most important endorsement for me is the fact that I am now completely re focussed on the task in hand and I now enjoy what I`m doing again. I`m itching to do my training rides and no longer pack in races. I know that when push comes to shove in an important race later this year, if I am equal to another rider, then the mental edge I now have will give me the advantage over that individual.

After only a few weeks of coaching from John I have noticed a definate improvement in my strength on the bike. John's weekly plans are tough but enjoyable and it's nice to be coached by someone who's been there and got the t-shirt! John is supportive and encouraging and is a great motivator when it comes to getting the best out of a cyclist - you can tell he loves being a coach.

This winter John changed my training and added gym work to my programme. It has fired me up, I cannot believe the benefits and motivation the weights and rowing have given me. It has been tough but I feel an all round improvement in myself and I am looking forward to the benefits now that I am concentrating more on the bike.

I came to John after having been disillusioned and burnt out after a couple of seasons with a previous coach. I find Johns training plans and philosophies ‘a breath of fresh air’ With John I know where we are, where we are going and what we are trying to achieve and why, every time I sling my leg over a Bike. Feedback I desperately wanted but never had before. Powerful motivation indeed!

Before a met john I had no structure to my training but now it's a different story. I get a detailed plan every week which is easy to understand and has a lot of different variations of training which really excite you knowing that these rides are going to target different areas of your training and in the end make you the best rider you can be.

John has a love for coaching and is a very powerful motivator and will  dedicate his time to know you as a person and a rider and help you reach the goals you have always wanted.
Before i met john i had a time of 24.45 for a 10 and 1.01.54 for a 25 and in only three week's of training i have got my 10 time down to 23.41 and my 25 time to 59.29 and I feel stronger and more focused and motivated as the week's go .

John is more than a coach he is a friend and well worth every penny.

Top Coach !!

It was billed as the biggest pool based Triathlon in the South and I admit I was nervous !!No need to be mate - I won the age category and came 55th overall !   Great result  ... Although really awful conditions ..

I was not very happy with my swim but it was a strange pool ...  I have to put some work in on the swim as the next two events are double the swim distance at 750m..

Now my hip is getting better I want to get back to some focused 5k training so you might want to look at the attached and work with me on it??

Thanks for your input to date - great result and great trophy too..

No other coach would have have inspired me the way you have John. I know a few that would have binned the likes of me, and others the like of me only
to leave the sport forever.

But you have brought new life to me. my competition times have been slow in the past, but the faith you have held in me is now reflecting in my times. I
have a different approach to each event. I am starting to reel in the other riders now and it's Ggggggggggreat!

Huge thanks for the training plan. The Spanish Pyrenees Sportif ride on Sat was the best and most enjoyable ride I have ever had. I rode it very conservatively...keeping HR at 82-84 % on climbs, consequently I had lots left in the tank  for the final 30k haul  to the finish line at Sabinanago. Stats...8hrs ,36 mins for the 205 km (2966 m climbing) av. speed 23.8km. Position = 4472 out of 7566  and 899 out of 1731 for my age category.

Target = 7 hrs 59 mins next year!!  As a comparison for my  06  training for the Etap Du Tour (which I completed in 9 hrs 40 mins and was Hell on Earth) I just spent endless hours in the saddle (180 miles per week average) totally unstructured. This year with your guidance  did a lot less time on the bike (120 miles per week) and really enjoyed the variety of the tasks set. Thanks again!

I've been working with John for five months now and there is no question that his advice and support have got me to a level that I would never have achieved on my own. With his support I've got my motivation back to train properly after 5 years in the doldrums and fully expect to smash all my PB's next year.

The year seems to have flown past but from the gym work at the start of the year until the last 25 mile TT on levens its been a cracker. I hit form at the time I needed to, and I am  very pleased with my performances, even with a couple of medical issues that gave me a few weeks of feeling unwell. John as kept me motivated when I have felt a bit down and is training programme as been spot on for me. The mix of gym and bike during the winter months was a big plus for me, and I felt the benefits as the season progressed.

I can only speak as I find, and from a very limited experience base. I have been with John Morgan for four months and can honestly say I have NEVER been fitter, have now got muscles I only dreamed of, am entirely comfortable out on a clubrun, can hold power I could never have believed possible, and am so motivated it isn't true. My clubmates can confirm that six months ago I was ready to sell my bikes and sink into retired oblivion. Thanks to a fellow TT clubmate, who persuaded me to ride "one last 10", and the TT forum, where I found John Morgan's details, I can hardly wait to decimate my 10 pb next season, something I am SURE I will do. This man has it all. Technical ability, and great motivational skills. His attention to detail is impeccable. I know that he reads every word of my feedback, because the next week's plan takes that into account. On top of all this, not many coaches would happily take on a guy only a few weeks off his 71st birthday.
Good on ya, JM

I
I can sum my visit up to you today in one word - Fantastic! This is a whole new world to me at the moment, I have a long way to go and a lot to learn and with your help and guidance I intend to succeed. The way that you explain and put things over is great, your enthusiasm is awesome. I felt very relaxed and I look forward to getting started with the plan and watching things start to happen. I know I have to start things off slowly, but I look forward to the day when I hopefully can have my name on your current riders page and let the world see what progress I've made!

Six months on, I just wanted to say thanks for the ramp test/consultation and subsequent plan.  The afternoon at yours for the test and discussion got me fired up for a good winters training, knowing that all the sessions had a structure to them.  The goal was to have a good early season before the baby arrived at the end of April.  So far so good with a top 10 at the Circuit of the Dales (not bad for 90kg!) and an open win.  I certainly feel that I have stepped up a level from last year so thanks for your help with that
