I have been riding Time Trials on and off for the last 25 years and never really improved much, although I am slightly faster now. I set a personal best in a 25 in 2007 recording a time of 1-02-11 and 3 years ago I did a 22-49 in a 10 on Levens. My training ethos in the past was If training is good for you then more must be better and this coupled with a hard physical job climbing Electricity Pylons and riding to work didn't really bring the results I hoped for.

John gave a talk on training at our club and I was really impressed with his approach, I booked a ramp test and a training plan and am now really looking forward to trying a different way of training than I have been used to. I don't climb the Pylons very often these days and am going to focus more on sticking to the plan and making sure the easy days are easy and the key sessions are quality efforts. My main goal is still to beat the hour for a 25 ..... watch this space in 2008!
