Up until a couple of years ago I had never done any competitive sport.  The closest was a couple MTB marathon events.

During 2005 I decided to attempt the Etape in 2006.  This kick started my training and a season of Sportives namely the Fred Whitton, Grand Fondo Cymru, Dragon, Polka Dot & Wild Wales Challenge.  The training consisted of a lot of miles and climbing with very little science or structure.  I completed the Etape and managed a silver medal.

It was after the Etape I tried a local club 10 and managed a 24 on my road bike.  This lead to a spur of the moment TT bike purchase on Ebay.  As it was late in the season I didn't get to do many more TTs during 2006.

During 2007 I have focused more on TTs but still done a couple of Sportives and the Etape after saying I would never do it again.

My goal for the remainder of this year and 2008 is to focus just on time trialling and improve my times so that I am regularly finishing in the
top 5 of open events.
